Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 2nd of April.
Good morning, Olympia.
The Olympia School District is planning cuts to save $3.8 million for the 2026-27 school year.
Superintendent Patrick Murphy presented the plan on March 25 (which includes staff adjustments and a slight increase in class sizes) as part of a financial stabilization effort that invites community input through surveys and forums.
The Thurston Regional Housing Council backed a change for the Franz Anderson supportive housing project on 527 Franz Anderson Road SE in Olympia — the new plan sets 50% of units for households earning up to 50% of AMI instead of all being extremely low-income, and state agencies are urged to approve the change so construction can finish late 2027 or early 2028.
