CRIME NEWS

  • Police responded at 1:34 a.m. Tuesday morning to reports of a loud noise near Target at 665 Sleater Kinney Road Southeast and found an intentionally damaged Tesla charging station — detectives are working with the FBI to investigate the crime.  South Sound News
  • Thurston County deputies named Jeffrey Zizz—a 47-year-old local handyman—as a person of interest in the case of a missing grandmother who has not been seen since April 1.  FOX13

CULTURE NEWS

  • Olympia punk act Bratmobile will headline the South Sound Block Party on August 22-23, 2025 as part of a community event produced locally to celebrate the city's music scene. The event also features L7 + several other acts from regional to international levels and offers general admission passes at $69 and VIP passes at $140.  JOLT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On April 7, the Olympia Planning Commission met to review proposed amendments to city codes that would expand urban agriculture across residential and commercial zones. The proposal seeks to ease barriers for small-scale farming, improve water access, and streamline permits for community gardens — a plan developed with input from city staff and local agricultural groups.  JOLT
