COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Intercity Transit invites local riders to join the Earth Day Market Ride on Saturday, April 19, with nine starting points that include new stops at the Oaktree Homeowners Association Pavilion and the Chehalis-Western Trail entrance at 45th Avenue SE. Riders will meet at the Heritage Park Fountain before 11 a.m. to receive treats, coffee, and a market token before riding together to the Olympia Farmers Market for live music and food.  JOLT

CULTURE NEWS

  • The National Tour of The Book of Mormon will perform at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts in Olympia on August 4th and 5th. Subscribers began pre-sale on April 9th (general ticket sales will start on April 11th) as the show prepares for its limited engagement.  ThurstonTalk

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, April 8, the Olympia City Council unanimously approved the sale of the 10.47-acre property at 900 Plum St. SE to Island Enterprises, a wholly-owned enterprise of the Squaxin Island Tribe, for $8.2 million. City Manager Jay Burney said the sale follows a 2019 assessment that found the building had reached the end of its useful life — city services will continue during an 18-month no-cost leaseback while relocation options are evaluated.  JOLT
