- ➤ Gateway Rotary Club will host its Bunkers, Balls & Birdies Golf Tournament at Capital City Golf Course on August 6 to raise funds for new playground equipment at William A. Bush Park in Lacey. The tournament will start at 8:30 a.m. (shotgun start) and will offer prizes and meals while the City of Lacey plans its playground design later in 2025 (with community voting on options). - ➤ Evergreen State College announced that 10 student-athletes earned spots on the U.S. Bank Cascade Collegiate Conference Academic All-Conference list for spring sports. The honor was given based on a converted 4.0 grading scale—students had to meet a minimum GPA of 3.2 and class standing requirements to be recognized among 569 honorees. ThurstonTalk
- ➤ The Evergreen State College wrapped up its seventh annual Equity Symposium (The Wisdom of Stories) on April 16–17. The event brought together students, faculty, staff, and community members through interactive workshops and a keynote by Dr. Alexis Pauline Gumbs (renowned activist) that focused on storytelling’s role in building connection and inspiring change.
