Saint Martin's University was recognized as an Opportunity College and University by the Carnegie Foundation's Classification system—an honor that reflects its strong commitment to student access and social mobility among diverse students.

After not having a police auditor for many years, Olympia City Council approved a contract with the OIR Group to watch over the police.

Council member Jim Cooper said the one-year deal—worth between $100,000 and $120,000 a year—will let the team take complaints, check on incidents, and work with the new community policing board.
