CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Thurston County Sheriff's Office is searching for Damien Madison, 27, who allegedly shot at a deputy with an AR15 during a pursuit — he is wanted on multiple felony charges and is considered armed and dangerous. FOX13
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ An audit of Olympia School District communications, done with the National School Public Relations Association and nearly 650 survey responses, found that 76% of parents rated the district’s efforts as average or above average (42% excellent and 34% average). The district began making improvements in summer 2024 and will continue to implement recommendations to improve communication. JOLT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Larry Dzieza, chair of the Olympia Council of Neighborhood Associations, urged the city to start immediate repairs on deteriorated sidewalks at the City Council meeting on May 6. He proposed fixing one neighborhood at a time—letting a dedicated crew repair many sidewalks quickly—to reduce injuries as officials plan longer-term strategies. JOLT
