  • Olympia City Councilman Clark Gilman urged residents to join the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive by leaving nonperishable food near their mailboxes for collection today; letter carriers and volunteers will deliver donations to the Thurston County Food Bank.  JOLT

ECONOMY NEWS

  • On April 29, OlyFed reshaped its board by appointing Heather Burgess—a real estate attorney and former Army officer—for her expertise, reelected two members, and retired two longtime board members, a change the bank said will strengthen community support in affordable housing and financial education.  JOLT
  • Gas prices for regular unleaded in Olympia hit $5.817 per gallon on Friday, May 8, up over 18 cents from the previous week due to global supply concerns from Middle Eastern tensions, and AAA noted prices are $1.40 higher than last year & the biggest weekly jump since 2022.  JOLT
