- ➤ Today, the City of Olympia requested proposals from qualified consultants to refine its Sea Level Rise Response Plan — a framework to monitor and respond to rising sea levels — as part of efforts to protect downtown from increasing flood risks. - ➤ On May 12, the Port of Olympia Commission approved the $2.1 million sale of two land parcels at 427 and 517 Marine Drive to expand Hands On Children's Museum; the deal--pending City Council approval and including an environmental covenant with the Department of Ecology--will let the museum add parking, event space, classrooms and a STEAM lab. - ➤ Budd Inlet is closed to recreational shellfish harvesting because officials detected high levels of the biotoxin that causes DSP—this toxin can make people sick with nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
