- ➤ Olympia is seeking three community members to join its new Community Policing Board that will work with the Civilian Police Auditor to review audit findings and shape police oversight—helping with outreach and serving on investigative teams when needed. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, July 11 and board members are expected to commit between 10 and 50 hours over a three to four month period. JOLT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Olympia City Council will vote on Tuesday, May 20 — on a proposal to establish a $500K grant program to offset permitting fees for affordable housing developers. If approved, the two-year pilot will help speed up the construction of low-income homes for those earning 80% or less of the area median income — with future funding from city property sales to be reassessed after two years. - ➤ Olympia Orthopaedic Associates is partnering with local school districts to offer free sports physicals for middle and high school athletes at the Capital High School gym on June 7th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Students must bring a completed physical form and any abnormal findings will require follow-up with their pediatrician.
