- ➤ Forty high school students from River Ridge, Timberline, Olympia and Tumwater won first place in the academic division of the La’u Samoa Competition on May 3 at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma—demonstrating their hard work and cultural pride. Laumua’s new group lead, Moeshana Maiava, said the team nearly doubled its numbers and will grow in the future—promising more chances for students to showcase their heritage and academic strength.
