- ➤ On May 23 at 11 p.m., a nurse at St. Peter Hospital was allegedly assaulted in the emergency room by 19-year-old Chavah Sarver—a suspect who had collapsed in a Dairy Queen parking lot while intoxicated—and police later restrained her after she kicked officers and security staff. JOLT
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Evergreen State College's Shelton Promise program manager, Monear Fatemi, was honored with the 2025 Brad Owen Excellence in Mentoring Award from MENTOR Washington for her leadership supporting college access for high school students in Shelton School District—her program is fully funded for another cohort and will launch an alumni mentor network to aid new Evergreen students. - ➤ The Olympia Police Department reported a 46% rise in use-of-force incidents in 2024 with 76 cases compared to 52 in 2023—most involved individuals in crisis from mental health issues or substance abuse.
