🎓 Education
On Tuesday, June 9, the SPSCC Board approved closing three academic programs, including Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry Arts and Paralegal, and reducing three faculty positions amid budget challenges.
A teach-out plan will support enrolled students as the school revises its operating budget for 2026 to 2027.
🌲 Environment
Tumwater and Port of Olympia’s joint habitat conservation plan is under review by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service before formal environmental review.
The city council amended ICF Environmental Inc.’s contract with an extra $445,108 to extend work through 2027, with officials set to meet in August.
📰 Real Estate
Elected officials, housing developers and advocates joined a ribbon-cutting at Lansdale Pointe Apartments Tuesday afternoon.
The 162-unit affordable housing community (funded by the city, Thurston County and a state housing program) offers amenities like an EV charging station and business center for families earning 60% of area median income.
