- ➤ Dough Zone, a Chinese restaurant chain known for its bao and dumplings, will open its 28th location in Lacey on June 25 at 2480 Marvin Road NW, Ste D. Founders Jason and Nancy Zhai started the chain in Bellevue in 2014 and are expanding to meet growing demand in the South Sound area — the new restaurant will offer their signature Q-Bao and Xiao Long Bao. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Olympia School District has opened registration for summer classes for high school students and is accepting teacher recommendations for elementary students; the high school program will run from July 7 to Aug. 14 with online lessons and in-person tests at Olympia Regional Learning Academy—elementary classes will take place from July 7 to 24 at Roosevelt and Garfield Elementary Schools with free lunch provided. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Olympia City Council approved a $20.5 million bond sale on Tuesday, June 17 to fund the expansion of the Hands On Children's Museum and cover a $1.5 million payment for a new property from the Port of Olympia; the project will add 15,000 square feet (new galleries, restrooms and a lobby) to help ease overcrowding. The financing plan uses Public Facilities District funds and a 30-year bond term with careful revenue projections to secure the museum’s future growth. JOLT
