  • Olympia City Manager Jay Burney appointed Deputy Police Chief Shelby Parker as interim chief of the Olympia Police Department — a move that follows Chief Rich Allen’s retirement on June 16. Parker began her career in the department in 2003 and today expressed her commitment to transparent leadership as staff prepare to begin a broad, inclusive search for a permanent chief.  JOLT
  • Olympia City Council will review housing policies and displacement risk findings today during a study session led by the CPED team—responding to state mandates under House Bill 1220. The update follows a regional analysis with partner cities that identified trends in resident diversity and shifts in housing cost burdens.  JOLT
