🌲 Environment
Grass Lake Nature Park in west Olympia now offers a paved parking lot, ADA-accessible trail, boardwalk, benches and signs following upgrades by the city and a state grant.
Visitors can enjoy nearby wetlands, forests and wildlife — including many bird species — along its clear trails.
🏛️ Government
The City of Lacey launched an interactive Lacey Equity Map that shows 34 community indicators to highlight social and environmental differences across the city and its Urban Growth Area.
City Manager Rick Walk said the tool is meant to guide future policy decisions — it is available free for community members, businesses, and nonprofits to use.
Thurston County is set to take over all court services for Olympia and Tenino when the board votes on July 29; the transfer will take about six months and secure full cost recovery through December 31.
Olympia has requested all court services — including supervised probation — while Tenino will follow a smaller plan with all cases processed through the District Court.
