🎭 Culture
The Olympia Heritage Commission recommended delisting the 116-year-old tugboat Sandman from the Heritage Register after its planks became unsafe following removal in 2023.
The Port of Olympia and Historic Maritime Foundation plan to preserve its legacy (with 3D models and artifact displays) at local museums.
🏛️ Government
State officials announced that the 11-foot Whitman statue will be moved from its north entryway to a quieter corridor near the Senate cafeteria—making way for Billy Frank Jr.'s new statue placed this Friday, July 31.
The relocation is set for later this year or early 2027.
