CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 49-year-old man was arrested after a high-speed chase on July 17 when a license plate reader in Olympia flagged his stolen white 2004 Kia Optima and he reached speeds up to 130 mph on multiple highways with deputies disabling his vehicle on Interstate 5—ending the pursuit and leading to his arrest after he gave a false name—while he now faces charges for vehicle theft, eluding law enforcement, and criminal impersonation. - ➤ The City of Olympia is asking landlords, renters and housing advocates to fill out an online survey on tenant screening practices that will close on Friday, Aug. 8—responses will help guide possible policy changes—and the city council will review the feedback at a study session on Sept. 16.
