EDUCATION NEWS

  • South Puget Sound Community College won the gold award for Best Community College for the fourth year in a row and earned a bronze for Best Higher Education based on more than 331,000 community votes. The college, which serves over 5,000 people with campuses in Olympia & Lacey, said the awards show the hard work of its teachers, staff & students.  JOLT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Olympia City Council will review amendments to the municipal code on Tuesday, Aug. 12 to strengthen oversight of massage and reflexology businesses. The changes would require clear posting of licenses, limit police inspections to public areas, and target business operators rather than individuals — a measure meant to block unlicensed and criminal activities.  JOLT
