- ➤ The Puget Sound Estuarium will hold its annual fundraiser Jellyfish Jam on Sept. 27 at the Olympia Center — the event will include a donor reception for solo and acoustic musicians starting at 5:30 p.m. A second group of musicians will perform at the main show, and organizers will provide technical help while funds remain limited until a sponsor is found. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Olympia Site Plan Review Committee held a presubmission conference on August 13th to review a proposed multifamily development at 1525 Palomino Drive SE that will subdivide a 1.36-acre parcel into six lots for triplex or fourplex units — city planners detailed tree preservation and utility extension requirements, among other guidelines, to steer the project through its planning process. Detailed code references and potential right-of-way adjustments were also discussed to ensure compliance. JOLT
- ➤ The Civil Service Commission will meet Tuesday, Aug. 19 at 8:30 a.m. in Room 112 at Olympia City Hall to review new hires for the police and fire departments + the commission will consider seven candidates for the police role and two for the lateral firefighter position. JOLT
