COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Experience Olympia and Beyond announced Tuesday that its executive director Michael Day left less than three months after his early July start—his final day was Monday, Aug. 25. The nonprofit that promotes tourism and supports local businesses in Thurston County will now begin a national search for new leadership. JOLT
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ South Puget Sound Community College will work with the Aspen Institute in a three-year plan to update its programs so students can get higher paying jobs—The college announced on Aug. 21 that it joined the Unlocking Opportunity network with 54 other colleges and 10 pilot institutions. JOLT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Olympia has issued a request for proposals for experienced lobbyists to advance its priorities in the 2026 legislative session — proposals are due by Sept. 22 at 4 p.m., finalist interviews will be held in October, and the selected firm will begin work in November on a contract not exceeding $49,922 per year.
