Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Washington will host a Saturday, Sept.

13 fundraising gala at South Puget Sound Community College — Building 27 to expand its youth mentorship programs with appetizers, auctions, and a 1920s-themed murder mystery show aimed at raising $200,000. The event will support mentoring expansion into neighboring counties.

Local farms in Olympia will open several pumpkin patches and corn mazes for the 2025 fall season.

The attractions include family events (starting with NW Glass on September 13, Rutledge from September 20, Hunter from September 27, Schilter from September 27, Pigman’s from October 1, and Crossroads from October 11) that offer corn mazes, hayrides and other seasonal activities for all ages.

Detectives in Thurston County arrested a suspect in a 2021 homicide case involving Amanda Green, an indigenous woman reported missing, after the suspect cooperated by leading investigators to a shallow grave near Mount Raineir in Lewis County—human remains were recovered and identification is pending.
