- ➤ Thurston County held its second annual Resource Hub Block Party where over 400 residents received services such as vaccinations, housing assistance, and free haircuts—credit union eDCU was honored as the event’s title sponsor to help reduce court and corrections involvement. The event, which is part of a program that has served over 5,000 people, showed how community partnerships can help stretch county resources. ThurstonTalk
- ➤ The Skoolie Foundation began a mobile shower trailer program that gives homeless people showers, haircuts, and a lunch grab bag every Thursday at Olympia Union Gospel Mission from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and it plans to open a women’s empowerment campus in Thurston County — partnering with Nurture Hope to support housing and job access for women in need. - ➤ The Washington State Library has microfilmed a scrapbook by Jessie Hartsuck Scott, a South Union native, that shows diaries & clippings recording early local pioneers, schools and community events.
