- ➤ The Olympia Downtown Alliance invites families to join the LoveOly Downtown Halloween fest on Oct. 31—featuring a scavenger hunt where participants visit 10 local businesses and a pet costume contest judged by Banfield Pet Hospital, Concern for Animals and Oly Paws. Trick-or-treating takes place at downtown shops from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. while the pet contest happens at 5th Avenue and Washington Street from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. JOLT
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Four U.S. Army soldiers died in a helicopter crash near Joint Base Lewis-McChord on Sept. 17, 2025—Army officials identified the victims and say the accident is under investigation. FOX13
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Olympia is planning changes on Capitol Boulevard and Capitol Way by reducing four lanes to three—making room for bike lanes, improved bus stops, and safer crossings. The project, estimated at $14 million with local funds and potential grants, will complete its concept by year's end, begin design early next year, and aim for construction by 2028-30. JOLT
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Olympia Community Sailing hosted the Northwest Interscholastic Sailing Association Women’s and Nonbinary Qualifiers at Port Plaza on Sept. 13 and Sept. 14, where 60 sailors from 12 high schools competed for berths at the national Girls Invitational. The top four teams—Bellarmine, Olympia, Capitol and Bainbridge Island—will sail at Mission Bay Yacht Club in San Diego on Oct. 18 and Oct. 19. JOLT
