On Monday, about 50 guests gathered at the Lee Creighton Justice Center in Olympia to honor former Municipal Court Judge Lee Creighton as his family and colleagues recalled his legacy amid planned changes to the court system—its judicial services set to transfer before the court closes in early 2026. The event mixed joy with sadness as community members paid tribute to a respected local leader.
Today at 4 p.m. the Olympia Land Use and Environment Committee will meet at City Hall Room 112 to review zoning changes for Briggs Village—proposals include raising housing units and easing commercial space rules to match current market conditions.
Port of Olympia plans a new administration building by early 2027 on the former Dancing Goats Coffee site on Market Street.
Thomas Architecture Studios will finish the schematic design by October—pending commission approval—and use the rest of this year and next year to refine plans, prepare documents, and seek permits before construction may start in summer 2026.
