- ➤ A historic armory on a hill outside downtown Olympia began its transformation into a creative campus when local officials, artists and community members celebrated $19 million in interior upgrades—made to ensure the 43,000-square-foot space meets ADA standards—on Sept. 25. The city is partnering with eight anchor tenants and funding the work with state grants—city bonds and other public funds—as it works toward completing the first phase by mid-2027. JOLT

- ➤ The City of Olympia's Land Use and Environment Committee endorsed proposed code changes on Sept. 25 to update rules for Briggs Village—boosting housing density and mixed-use options while keeping a full-service grocery store requirement of 9,200 square feet. Senior Planner Jackson Ewing presented the amendments, and members stressed that grocery store space must not be split to maintain community expectations. JOLT
