COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A community-led walk audit will take place in downtown Olympia on Saturday, Oct 4 as part of the Week Without Driving campaign to test 4th Avenue for safe pedestrian access. The event starts at 10 a.m. at Heritage Park Fountain and will help city leaders learn about risks from fast-moving cars—posing challenges for nondrivers.  JOLT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Olympia School District Board of Directors proclaimed October as Walk to School Month at a meeting on Sept. 25. The proclamation states that walking or biking builds a healthy routine and promotes safer travel — an effort led by the district, the city, and Intercity Transit.  JOLT
