- ➤ The Olympia City Council on Sept. 30 approved a plan to raise revenue for the 2026 operating budget by boosting the Business and Occupation tax and starting a public safety sales tax to close a $6.5 million gap. Staff will update on the plan on Oct. 14 — a move meant to keep essential services intact. JOLT
- ➤ Traffic signals at Pacific Avenue SE and Fones Road SE went into flashing mode Oct. 1 as crews began nighttime work on the Fones Road Corridor Project—officers direct traffic and advise motorists to use alternate routes during work hours from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. JOLT
