GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Olympia City Council proclaimed October as Walk to School Month as part of the Walk N Roll initiative—encouraging students to walk, bike or roll to school. Officials said plans include building safer routes with projects like the Westside Bike Corridor now under review and a partnership with the Olympia School District to improve crosswalks in 2027. - ➤ The Olympia City Council approved an Interlocal Agreement with LOTT Clean Water Alliance on Sept. 30 to start a pilot project testing if reclaimed wastewater can be safely treated to drinking water standards—Olympia contributed $50,000 and the project will test reverse osmosis and granular activated carbon with public outreach including using treated water in beer making.
