- ➤ On Oct. 5, an intruder vandalized the Legislative Building on the Capitol Campus in Olympia—damaging historic artifacts such as flags, a chenille rug, and busts—as officials confirmed he was arrested and DES began initial cleanup. JOLT
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The City of Olympia & Squaxin Island Tribe will host an Indigenous Peoples Day celebration at Squaxin Park on Oct. 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with cultural presentations, speakers, educational activities and food available for families, while organizers advise that parking is limited and a complimentary shuttle will run from the Olympia Farmers Market District parking lot at 700 Capitol Way N every 30 minutes starting at 11 a.m. JOLT

- ➤ The City of Olympia issued a request for bids to qualified contractors to rehabilitate a 12-unit affordable housing building at 1024 Prospect Ave. NE as part of its Rental Rehabilitation Program funded by CDBG—bids are due by noon on Oct. 28 and questions will be answered via email until 5 p.m. on Oct. 20.
