COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ City Gates Ministries was founded by Phil Prietto in 1995 to unite different churches in serving the local poor with a weekly Street Lights event held every Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the corner of State and Franklin streets — the program offers meals and supplies, recorded over 20,000 volunteer hours in 2024, and now faces rising demand for food, health care, and job training. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Olympia Family Theater will host Magic Curtain Mornings for children on April 18, 25, and 26 at 10:30 AM at 612 4th Ave. E — the shows feature a new play called Red and the Dancing Wolf with music and movement and cost $5 per person. JOLT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Dispute Resolution Center expanded its services to help settle housing conflicts for local residents. Its free programs — offered through contracts with Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater and Mason County — help landlords, tenants and neighbors resolve disputes. JOLT
- ➤ On March 12th, 2025, the LOTT Clean Water Alliance Board approved $125,000 for the Franz Anderson Permanent Supportive Housing project in Olympia—set to create 70 multi-family apartments for low-income residents. The City of Olympia requested the funds from a shared pool to support regional affordable housing goals—aiming to help individuals exiting homelessness. ThurstonTalk
