If you use a Timberland library, the early news is good. The levy lid lift was passing 55.18% to 44.82% districtwide on Tuesday night, Secretary of State data shows. The Nisqually Valley News reported it was passing as library leaders and supporters say it is essential to avoiding further staff layoffs and service cuts.
It was passing in Grays Harbor, Mason, Pacific and Thurston counties and failing in Lewis County. “It feels really good to see, so far, that it’s passing in every county but Lewis County,” said interim executive director Andrea Heisel.
- Rate: 35 cents per $1,000, up from 22 cents
- Revenue: up $14 million, from about $26 million to $40 million
- Thurston County median home: $4.92 a month, or $59 a year
- Last attempt: 2009, when voters said no
A median-value home would pay $31 to $59 a year
